Trainsignal, Chapter 2 Lecture 1 - EIGRP Fundamentals

We will setup the lab tomorrow :0)

Trainsignal - Lecture 3 - Floating Static Routes

A recap of the Topology:

The routing table on R1 is shown below, and what we want to do is bring up the serial link when the RIP routes die on the network.

Lets put in the floating route (remembering to specify the Admin distance at the end of the static route command, otherwise this route will go into the routing table, as it matches the current RIP routes network/mask and beats the AD of RIP)

Here i have gone with the AD of 121, as this way it does not beat RIP :0) and now the route is just floating in limbo so to speak....

Lets test this by shutting down the serial interface on R1, this will cut of the RIP updates and we should see our floating static route pop into the routing table.

Notice we also lost the static route to R2's loopback (2.2.2.2) as the next hop address is unavailable
Now lets bring up the interface and watch the RIP routes come back in the routing table (this does take some time lol)
